Reflective Writing

A lot of ideas came out of the process of making this piece, which was very interesting. Because at the beginning. The theme of the project was these traditional paintings. So I was going to paint a classical portrait, but I had a conversation with my tutor, who told me that I didn't have to limit myself to the project's subject matter. So then, halfway through, I changed my direction to do something more contemporary and anti-traditional.

I also had a lot of problems with the sawing of the timber, as I made the frame myself, and at first, I didn't have enough timber, so I had to go back and re-buy it and re-measure the timber and the edges of the frame. I also had to nail the hanging canvas to the board with a nail gun, and there were a lot of mistakes at the time. Because the canvas is not very soft material, it needs to be shaped in a certain way. At first, it was utterly messy, hanging from the frame, then I thought of using a staple gun to pin some parts together and create shapes out of his folds. The process was fraught with problems but very productive and fruitful. This includes the use of paint on top. I made little samples of the way the paint was applied, so this made the process of applying the colours later on very smooth
